May 1st, 2008 - Burin Penisula Project Completed
St. Lawrence Academy held a rice day in April. They raised $500.00 in support of the Nepal project. Thank you to the administration, staff and students of St. Lawrence Academy. With the money you raised, we have now met our fundraising goal.
(Update From Kim Slaney)
It is with great joy that I report that the Burin Peninsula project has been completed. We have successfully raised $7500.00 to build a school for 200 primary children in Nepal.
Unfortunately, as I say good bye to this project, I also must say good bye to my partner Mr. John Wrixon, who passed away on April 26, 2008 at the age of 96. Mr. Wrixon worked tirelessly and enthusiastically to raise the money to help build this school. Within a week of having that goal accomplished, Mr. Wrixon passed peacefully away.
Mr. Wrixon, you are an inspiration to us all!
